2023-01-15 Targa High Country Car Show
I am contacting you to promote a car show that will be held on Sunday 15th January 2023 at the Albert Heaney Oval, 2426 Midland Highway, Swanpool from 9am to 1pm. This show is being run jointly by Shannon’s Insurance and the committee for the Swanpool Motor Festival to promote the 2013 Targa High Country Tarmac Rally. The Targa rally will be conducted in the Mansfield district between 10th and the 12th February, 2023.
The Albert Heaney Oval was the home ground for the Swanpool Football and Netball clubs up until eight years ago and the oval and the facilities are now used for the benefit of the local community. All funds raised at the Targa car show and the Swanpool Motor Festival as used to maintain and upkeep the oval and the pavilion. The oval is also used as a safe haven along with the Swanpool Cinema in the event of locals and tourists who might be trapped because of bushfires. Negotiations are currently being held to provide the oval and all its facilities, free of charge for “Blaze Aid” volunteers that will work in the Swanpool area to repair flood damaged fencing on local farms.
The 2023 Targa High Country car show is open to all types of vehicles, cars, bikes, trucks, in fact anything with an engine with display vehicles entry fee of $5 and $2 for adult spectators. Display vehicles will be judged by the other entrants and the public via a mobile phone voting system that has been developed by “Car Torque” (a car display website). Anyone can vote via their mobile phone and the votes are collated and the three winners will receive a trophy from Shannons along with a voucher from Auto 1. The prize list is valued at $550 which also includes a $100 Auto 1 voucher to the voter as selected by the Car Torque voting system.
A sausage sizzle along with Coffee and drinks will be available during the day.
