16-02-2025 Club Ride Report – Holbrook Submarine Museum with John K.

It was a crisp Sunday morning, 16 February 2025. Sixteen motorcycles, with nineteen riders, met up
at our new Starting Point:
– the BARISTA, BAKER & BREWER, 358 Wodonga Place, South Albury
There were a number of club-plated motorcycles:
– John McInness – BMW R100 GS
– Mark Sice – Yamaha XT600
– David Barson – XV1100
– Nev Dozzizi – Kawasaki 245
– Terry Gay – Yamaha SRX600
Phill Greschke attended with his Ural sidecar. Good on you, Phill.

The plan was to ride to the Wymah Ferry and to cross the Murray River into NSW. But the Ferry was closed due to damage to the jetty’s rails on the Victoria side. “Three cheers” to Jo Sarroff for
discovering this. Note: there is no date yet as to “when” the ferry will be back in service – for

The plan was changed, and we rode to Walwa for fuel, coffee, and a break. It was a beautiful ride to Walwa. The air was crisp, the sun was shining, and it was windless – perfect conditions.

Then, we rode via Lankey’s Creek to the Holbrook Submarine Museum. If you haven’t been to the
Museum, you should do so. It is highly recommended. There is a café on-site, and the Holbrook
Hotel is diagonally opposite the Museum..

Please introduce yourself to the Website Editor and the Ride Captain before the event if you’re willing to volunteer as the defibrillator carrier for any upcoming rides. This will allow us to coordinate the logistics regarding the equipment effectively.

Member-Led Rides: Members are encouraged to initiate and organize rides amongst themselves. Negotiation and Consensus: Members are expected to engage in open and respectful discussions to determine the following: Ride Destination(s): Agree upon the desired destination(s) for the ride. Route: Determine the most suitable route(s) to the chosen destination(s), considering factors such as road conditions, rider experience levels, and overall safety. Ride Schedule: Establish a tentative schedule, including departure time, anticipated arrival time, and any planned stops. Ride Leader: Designate a temporary ride leader from among the participating members to assist in coordinating the group and ensuring safety. Safety First: All rides, regardless of whether led by a designated Ride Captain or organized by members, must adhere to the club’s safety guidelines and all applicable traffic laws.
