RIDE REPORT
YEA OVERNIGHTER, 23 and 24 August 2025

AWMEC Group Moto GuzziA beautiful Winter’s morning greeted riders on Saturday 23 August. The group met at the Baker, Barista &
Brewer, South Albury, and were in good spirits. The Sun was shining, and the temperature was warmer than
expected. Some members elected to drive. Some said they would ride up from Melbourne, and join the
group at Yea.
Ride Leader Rex Beard gave the Ride Briefing, and everyone was set. A big thanks goes out to John
McInnes, who forgo an epic ride, in order to tow the break-down trailer. Thank you very much, John. Much
appreciated!
Rex Beard led the group through Beechworth to the first stop at Milawa Bakery.
The next leg went up the King Valley, and then into the sensational hill country of Whitfield through Tolmie.
Then it was “down the other side of the Great Dividing Range” to the lunch stop at Mansfield Bakery.
Following a relaxing lunch, the last leg of the ride went over Lake Eildon, and through Bonnie Doon, Yarck,
Molesworth, to the day’s-end at Yea.
On the Saturday night we had a Group Dinner at the Peppercorn Hotel, Yea. We were looked after by
wonderful people, and it was a most pleasant night. The Menu is restaurant-class, and the Pub is highly
recommended. IF you travel to Yea, you should stay there.
Sunday 24 August was an equally pleasant day. The main attraction of the weekend was attending the
Cathedral of Moto Guzzi. This 200+ collection of Moto Guzzi’s is owned by Teo Lamers, a man of Dutch
origin. Teo built his museum in the hills south of Yea. From Yea you travel 11 kilometres south, on the
Melba Highway. Then you turn right onto Ti Tree Creek Road, and ride another 5 kilometres on a good
unsurfaced road to the Cathedral of Moto Guzzi.
After a BBQ lunch of 4 types of gourmet sausage we entered the Cathedral. It has three floors, and provides
information of the motorcycles via QR codes. Teo has his museum very well set up.
We followed Teo’s recommendation of “Lunch first, then the Motorcycles”. This allowed attendees different
amounts of time to view the motorcycles, and t hen work out their own departure times. This worked well.
Attendees left at the time of their choice, and rode/drove back home via the route of their choice.

For those club members who weren’t able to attend this time, perhaps if there is enough interest, another
trip could be organised?
