2021-05-23 Historic Winton – Ride Report
All at the last minute, Glen came up with a plan to attend the Historic Winton with myself and the two Chris’s.
And boy did we have a blast! Such a great day out to see the old cars and old bikes performing 4 short laps around the Winton Track. The day could not have been better with sun shining, buzzing crowds and even louder bikes buzzing with ethanol fuel in the air.
The Parade Display was a treat to watch a huge mix of the old vehicles strutting there stuff for everyone pleasure.
Here is a short video of the Parade;-
To walk through the pits was bliss. Watching the pit crews tinkering, modifying and tweaking the finely tuned machines before their moment out on the track was a great experience. The only problem I had was the amount of bikes I could have taken home with me.
I soo could have taken this amazing old 3 geared Harley Davidson in the Red, White and Blue;-
I was very close to consider buying this wonderful 1946 Model 18 Norton;-
Here is some old racers coming back into the pits;-
Not only were the racing cars and bikes very tempting, but also what we saw in the car park. It seemed that most people arrived for a day out to show off their prized possessions to the masses.
Just walking around the car park I could have easily spoken to the owners of these two bikes;-
Ducati 750
and this nice looking;-
Norton Commando 850
We were very pleased to have run into one of our members – Terry. Terry was there competing with his Side-Car. Two races for the day with the first race a win in 1st Place. Well done to Terry, Terry’s brother and their team.
Here is a close up of Terry’s racer;-
This coming members meeting we will be graced with Terry and his side-car to share his experiences and to answer everyone questions. Please turn up to the meeting for a great night of racing insights.
Of course we had to ride our bikes to Winton. Our ride route consisted of meeting at BP in Albury with a scoot down to Beechworth for a quick coffee, then a zip down to Everton. A side swing over to Mitta and the final leg on the Freeway into Winton. Our bikes for the day were the two Harleys, 1 Ducati and 1 Triumph.
Great Day Out !
