ALBURY-WODONGA PENRITE PROMAX MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP
Sunday 16th April 2023
At 6.30am Sunday the Albury-Wodonga Motorcycle Enthusiasts clubbers Rex Beard, John Innes, John and Sharon kontista, Sam and his son Cory. Met at the Albury-Wodonga Motor cross Racetrack ready to give a helping hand for the interclub relations call for help with Flag marshaling. Below photo is the demonstration on the use of coloured flags for rider in trouble warnings ahead and emergency alerts. Marshals were given orange T shirts with the TRACK CREW logo and large straw hats. Some of us were soon to appreciate wearing these hats during our marshaling!!!!!! The demo went for ½ hour. Before we were treated to some breakfast and terrific coffee from the onsite coffee van.
There was a small amount of troublesome rain drizzle to hold up the race from starting on time. Making the race start ¾ hour late.
It was quite a mud bath for both riders and flag marshals. Turn 3 was like chocolate cake mix and very boggy. Many riders got stuck!!!!!!
There was non stop handlebar-to handle bar action from practice runs, qualifying and racing from Australia’s best MX1, MX2 and MX3 riders. With 2 rounds under their belt racing was very serious as they competed for the big prize.
A muddy experience but an exciting job at the notorious turn 3 for John and Sharon Kontista. We were very grateful to have out straw hats on !!!
The Albury – Wodonga Motorcycle club were extremely thankful for our club members helping them out with flag marshaling.
They couldn’t have done the background work without us.
